Biggest news of 2011


January- In the beginning of 2011, 100,000 dead fresh water fish were found along the banks of the Arkansas River. They still do not know what is causing ths mass death.

January- Australia and Rio De Janeiro were hit with devestating floods.

February- On the 11th, the Egyptian president resigns after a widespread protest.

February- Uncertainty over oil output causes the price of crude oil to raise 20%.

March- Earthquake and tsunami hit Japan killing over 15,000 people. As a result, tsunami warnings were issued in over 50 other countries.

March- There were four nuclear powerplants affected by an earthquake in Japan.

April- In April 20, the playstation network was hacked. The hackers are unknown at the moment, but they believe it may have been a group called anonymous.

April- Former Ivorian president was arrested in his home by commands of the new elected president.

May- on the 1st of this month, President Obama anounces that Ossama BIn Laden was killed.

May- A former war cammander, wanted for war crimes and crimes on humanity, was arrested in Serbia.

June- One of Chile's volcano erupts causing cancellations in air trafic throughout South America.

June- The volcano in Chile also affected New Zeland and Australia causing 3,000 people to have to evactuate.

July- The worlds first artificial organ transplant is achieved. Doctors used an artificial wind pipe coated with stem cells.

July- Space shuttle Atlantis lands successfuly at Kenedy Space Center.

August- Juno, a solar powered space ship, was launched to Jupitar on August 5.

August- NASA announces taht a Mars orbitter captured pictures of water on Mars during warm seasons.

September- 100 people die after a petrol line explodes in Nairboi.

September- The United Nations launched a $357 million dollar appeal for victims of the 2011 Sindh floods in Pakistan.

October- An earthquake, in Turkey, killed 604 people and destroyed over 2,200 buildings.

October- October 31 is the
date selected by the UN as the symbolic date when global population reaches seven billion.

November- On the 26th, a mars science rover was launched from the Kenedy space center.

November- The Mars rover is planned to land on Mars on August 5, 2012.

December- On the 15th, the United States formally declares an end to the Iraq war.

December- A tropical storm causes 1,257 flash flood deaths in the Philippines.

4th amendment summary

The fourth amendment to the United States is part of the Bill of Rights. It guards against unreasonable searches and seizures. It requires a warrant  to be judicially sanctioned with a probable cause. Its creation was a result of an abuse of the general search warrant.
Some surpreme court cases it was used in were the mapp vs. Ohio case and the Katz vs. United States case.

Marbury V. Madison

Marbury V. Madison is a famous case in the history of law world wide. It was responsible for the exercise of the judicial review in the United States.
The case resulted from a petition by William Marbury. He petitioned the surpreme court to deliver documents, but the denied. The Court instead held that the provision of the Judiciary act of 1789 that said enabling  Marbury to bring his claim to the Supreme Court was unconstitutional.
